The Wellness Within Approaches Series: What is Whole Person Care?

My mother and I started Wellness Within in 2017 with a simple goal: to create a place where people could access mental health therapy and holistic wellness support in one space, while also building a sense of community for both clients and practitioners.

That vision has stayed the same, but our practice has grown and evolved over the years. Some changes came from necessity, others from deeper intention as we continued learning what truly supports people’s wellbeing.

At Wellness Within, we focus on approaches rather than one-size-fits-all services. We’re guided by purpose, not trends. And we don’t work on you—we work with you.

Over time, we developed a deep appreciation for how connected everything is: mind, body, and spirit. Stress and emotional experiences can show up physically as headaches, sleep difficulties, muscle tension, or other symptoms. Likewise, physical challenges can impact our emotional wellbeing. Seeing these connections helped shape the way we think about care.

One moment that helped bring this into focus for us was watching the documentary Heal. It sparked a realization: this integrated view of health simply made sense.

We began to see the value of different specialists working together in a coordinated way around the whole person. Instead of separating mental health and holistic wellness, we bring them together through a collaborative approach.

Our goal is to give you the space to share your story in your own words, in your own time, and in your own way. You have the option of building a wellness team that fits your needs, and we help guide that process if you’d like. When practitioners work together, you also don’t have to keep retelling your story every time someone new joins your care.

We’ve been intentional about building a team of people who share this vision—professionals who care deeply about the work and about the people they serve. Over time we’ve learned that when you move forward with clear values and authentic purpose, the path becomes clearer.

That same philosophy guides how we work with you. We believe your wellness plan should reflect the whole of who you are—not a standard template or a “paint-by-number” approach. If you’re not sure what that looks like yet, that’s okay. Part of our work together is helping you discover it.

But wellness doesn’t only happen in a therapy room.

It happens in the small, everyday moments of your life—when you pause to listen to your body, when you notice your emotions instead of pushing them away, when you set a boundary, speak honestly, rest when you need to, or choose something that truly supports you.

Sometimes the work is simply asking yourself:

What do I need right now?

What feels true for me?

What would support my well-being today?

These small moments of awareness and intention are often where meaningful change begins.

Our hope is that the work you do here doesn’t stay here—but becomes something you carry with you into your everyday life.
